have been reported in the text. The authors have wondered whether there is a significant difference between the three groups (control, MS ON and MS non-ON). As we have mentioned in detail in the article, both MS ON and MS non-ON eyes had significantly reduced average-RNFL thickness measurements when compared with healthy controls, and the average-RNFL thickness measurements in MS ON eyes were significantly thinner than those in MS non-ON eyes. We believe that the measurement of RNFL thicknesses might be a useful parameter for the assessment of the axonal loss and for monitoring the effects of demyelination on visual pathway integrity as complementary tools to other functional markers in MS patients. Dear Editor We thank Yolcu and Ilhan [1] for their valuable contributions to our article entitled ́Evaluation of choroidal vascular changes in patients with multiple sclerosis using enhanced depth imaging optical coherence tomography ́ [2] . In our study, we evaluated the choroidal thickness in multiple sclerosis (MS) patients with enhanced depth imaging optical coherence tomography to provide insight into the potential effects of the disease on vessel structure. We also evaluated the average retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL) thickness and compared the measurements of MS eyes with optic neuritis (ON; MS ON), MS eyes without ON (MS non-ON) and controls. The average values and the statistical significance of differences between these three groups Received: November 20, 2015 Accepted: November 26, 2015 Published online: January 5, 2016

thickness in optic neuritis associated with MS. Similar to Esen et al. [1] , they found a reduced average-RNFL thickness in MS eyes with optic neuritis. However, they also reported that inferiorand temporal-quadrant RNFL thickness is different between eyes with optic neuritis and control eyes. Moreover, they found a statistically significant difference in the inferior quadrant between eyes with...
متن کاملComment on Evaluation of Choroidal Vascular Changes in Patients with Multiple Sclerosis Using Enhanced Depth Imaging Optical Coherence Tomography.
OBJECTIVE To evaluate the choroidal thickness in patients with multiple sclerosis (MS) using enhanced depth imaging optical coherence tomography (EDI-OCT). METHODS In this observational comparative study, 68 eyes of 34 MS patients and 60 eyes of 30 healthy subjects were evaluated. All participants underwent complete ophthalmologic examination and OCT scanning. Choroidal thickness measurements...
متن کاملThe Evaluation of Choroidal Vascular Changes Associated with Vascular Dysregulation in Patients with Multiple Sclerosis Using Enhanced Depth Imaging Optical Coherence Tomography
Purpose: To evaluate the choroidal thickness (CT) in patients with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) using enhanced depth imaging optical coherence tomography (EDI-OCT) and comparing it with healthy subjects. Material/Methods: Sixty-four eyes of 32 patients with MS (22 women, 10 men, mean age: 37.5 ± 8.21 years) were enrolled in this study. Their choroidal thickness was measured using EDI-OCT, and compar...
متن کاملOptical Coherence Tomography and Corpus Callosum Index in Cognitive Assessment of Multiple Sclerosis Patients
Background: Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is a neurodegenerative disease of central nervous system. Different approaches have been developed to study MS progression and cognitive dysfunction as the major symptom of the disease. The current study compared Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) and Corpus Callosum Index (CCI) for the early evaluation of cognitive dysfunction in MS patients. Objectives: T...
متن کاملComparison of Choroidal Thickness in Psoriasis and Control Groups Using Optical Coherence Tomography
Background and Objective: One of the most common extracutaneous complications in psoriasis patients is ocular complications, which is controversial concerning its effect on choroidal thickness. This study aimed to compare the psoriasis patients with healthy individuals in terms of the thickness of the choroidal layer using the optical coherence tomography technique. Materials and Methods: In t...
